I frequently use Swedish Massage and Deep Tissue therapy to address the body as a whole, as well as specific problem areas or injuries. My cleints report they espcially like the thorough work I do on the shoulders, back, and feet.
A wonderfully balancing technique, I like to use Acupressure to harmonize the body, mind, and emotions. This ancient Japanese healing art recognizes energetic meridians that correspond to specific organs and body functions. Steady finger pressure at specific points releases tension and blockage, and equalizes the meridian's chi, or energy. Acupressure can effectively treat almost any condition, including migraine or tension headaches, frozen shoulder/neck, indigestion, and anxiety, just to name a few.
Shiatsu is based on the same system of meridians through out the body, but incorporates broader hand pressure and jostling, rather than finger pressure, to effect release and movement of chi.
This is by far mine and my client's favorite part of the massage session! They report that my work on the head and neck is the best they've experienced. Gentle, careful massage, movement, and positioning of the cranium releases the anatomical structures. Also flow of cerebrospinal fluid through the spine and skull is increased for maximum brain and nerve function. The deepest of resting states is usually experienced with this method.
Pregnancy Massage is a style of bodywork designed specifically for pregnant women. Pregnancy is a time when a woman's body endures tremendous stress due to dramatic physical and emotional changes. Using various techniques specially developed for the expecting mother, Pregnancy Massage helps release the pain and discomfort experienced throughout pregnancy. The benefits are profound, including emotional support, the relief of joint pain due to extra weight and postural imbalance, and improved breathing and relaxation.
From a simple shoulder or foot massage while seated in a wheel chair, to a careful Swedish massage at an elder's home or facility, massage feels wonderful at any age! I really enjoy offering a little TLC to elders, and I of course pay special attention to mature bodies and their specific needs and conditions.
Oncology Massage is a special type of massage developed specifically for cancer patients. Cancer patients have unique needs which must be addressed to make sure that a massage is beneficial to their health. I focus my attention on creating a gentle, nurturing environment, tailored to the specifice needs and limitations per client.
